About Us
Calling Our Spirits Home is an Indigenous woman-owned organization in Lac La Biche, Alberta.
We provide accessible, culturally safe recovery services for Indigenous communities across Canada—communities disproportionately impacted by addiction rooted in historical trauma, systemic inequality, and limited access to culturally grounded care.
We provide hybrid addiction recovery and wellness services for all ages that are spiritually grounded and trauma-informed.
Our approach integrates:
Ceremony
Elder guidance
Cultural aftercare
Evidence-based therapies using our Four Directions Healing Framework
Our Story: The Why
Mainstream treatment programs often fail to integrate Indigenous culture and spirituality, leading to low engagement and high relapse rates.
Calling Our Spirits Home was created to change that by putting spirit and culture at the forefront of recovery.
Calling Our Spirits Home began with Corey-Ann Pruden, whose own journey of recovery and cultural reconnection mirrors the stories of many she now supports. With over 20 years of experience in addiction recovery, trauma-informed counselling, and Indigenous community wellness, she brings both professional expertise and lived experience.
A CACCF-certified Addiction and Rehabilitation Practitioner, Corey-Ann is known for her compassion, cultural integrity, and grounded clinical care. She bridges Western psychology with Indigenous healing, guided by Two-Eyed Seeing to create holistic, spiritually rooted pathways to wellness.
Corey-Ann’s vision extends beyond treatment—she is leading a movement of cultural revitalization and empowerment, helping individuals and families reclaim balance while encouraging systems to embrace Indigenous-led healing.

Mission
We walk beside Indigenous individuals and families on their healing journey—bringing together ceremony, cultural teachings, and compassionate care in a safe, spiritually guided space.
Vision
To create a place where Indigenous people can come home to themselves—restoring balance, strengthening families, and reconnecting to spirit, culture, and community across Alberta and beyond.
Values
Culture First: Ceremony, Elder guidance, and Indigenous teachings are central to all programming.
Healing in Four Directions: We address the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical dimensions of wellness.
Trauma-Informed Practice: Services are safe, compassionate, and client-centered.
Accessibility: Supports are available both in-person and virtually to reach remote and northern communities.
Community Connection: Healing is sustained through family involvement, peer support, and cultural identity.
Our Signature Method: The Four Directions Healing Framework
Developed in collaboration with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and clinical advisors, this framework integrates:
Native Wellness Assessment — identifying spiritual and cultural strengths.
Bio-Psychosocial Clinical Intake — assessing mental health, trauma, and lifestyle factors.
Cultural Reconnection Practices — ceremonies, teachings, and land-based healing.
Evidence-Based Therapy — CBT, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems, and Motivational Interviewing.
This integrative process results in a personalized Healing & Wellness Plan tailored to each client’s spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical needs.
